Son Goku is the central character in the Dragonball universe. We follow his adventures when he was a child through the episodes of Dragonball. Goku is a menacing, bratty, quarrelsome, vicious little child when he first arrives on Earth, but one large bump on the head made him forget his animal instincts and become extraordinarily docile. But his new calm nature couldn't hide his extreme aptitude for (and love of) fighting. In Dragonball Z, Goku is an adult. His power increases with age, and he is the strongest fighter (arguably) in the world of Dragonball. This is most likely because Goku is a Saiyajin. The Saiyajins are a breed of super fighters who have the power to transform into huge monkeys during full moons, and even when not in monkey form, are very powerful. Each Saiyajin can also increase his power level by turning Super-Saiyajin. Characteristics of a Super-Saiyajin (SSJ for short) are usually spiky blonde/yellow hair, more muscular body, and a ki level (power level) far beyond any normal fighter.

Story
|
Our story starts out with Chi Chi Gohan, Goku, Goten and the Z-Warriors at Chi-Chi's house watching the news. Goten whines and says his favorite cartoon is on. Just as they are about to change the channel Chi Chi yells and says that she is waiting to hear about some recent sale. Goku then thinks to himself that Goten's cartoons would be way better than this but is scared to say anything to Chi Chi. Just as the Z warrior are just about to die of boredom a news report says that they are holding a martial arts tournament. Chi Chi then thinks, "oh uh" and runs to the corner to avoid the stampede.
Once the warrior arrived at the tournament Piccolo says 'Feh' as he looks at the much weaker people in the seemingly endless line 'Why do these people even bother to sign up?'. Kuririn then says 'Piccolo quit being to harsh I'm sure these people should uh...put up a uh...fight'. Kuririn tries not to laugh while saying this. Vegeta with his normal attitude looks at Kuririn ' Just for insulting me like that I'm taking you down first. Kuririn backs away over to Goku and chuckles nervously 'um..heh'. A few hours later they finally reach the sign in point. After Goku signs in he quickly goes over to the food stand to get 19 hot-dogs. When everyone is signed in they see that Goku and some weird big guy are the first to fight. Goku steps up into the ring and stretches a little bit. The other guy steps up and chuckles and charges over to Goku.
Goku simply blurs behind him and slaps him away. The guy steps up and shows extreme rage 'but I've trained so long! Oh well your going to die now anyway' he says. With that, he brings out a little computer. While pressing several buttons Nappa appears. Goku laugh and punches Nappa hard. To Goku's surprise, Nappa lived a little while before dying from the punch. Then Goku says in amazement, 'But the real Nappa would have instantly died...' Then the weird guy laughs and yells 'fool I have cloned most of your enemies and doubled their strength!'. Just then, Freezer metal Kooler, Majin buu, Cell 7, cell jrs. and King cold appear! Goten and Trunks know what to do and they do the fusion dance and take on Cell. Gohan heads to the Cell jrs. and takes on Freezer while he's at it. Piccolo, worried about Gohan, heads towards him. Then Janabea appears out of the computer and attacks Gohan. Vegeta and Goku also fuse to Gogeta and attack Majin buu. While the 3 earthlings go for metal Kooler, Gohan destroys the Cell jrs. While Gohan's distracted for a second, Freezer and Janabea both kick Gohan in the face. Gohan gets knocked down hard and slowly gets up. With this new-found rage, he goes SSJ2. He goes to fight but he is no match for them? then suddenly a huge spiral ki slams into Janabea knocking him down. Janabea gets up slow and starts fighting Piccolo, the originator of the ki, while Gohan handles Freezer. Gohan is beating up on Freezer but Piccolo is quickly loosing his ground with Janabea. Gohan then finishes Freezer off by a strong kick to his head and then heads to help Piccolo. Piccolo is slowly being beaten and just then Gohan gathers a huge amount of energy seeing his friend being hurt and blasts Janabea knocking him down hard. Piccolo and Gohan then take him down. Over at Gotenks' fight, he seems to be evenly matched with Cell. Gotenks then goes SSJ and proceeds to beat on Cell. Gogeta is loosing to Majin Buu so they go SSJ3 and buu goes chibi they then fight evenly. Gogeta keeps blasting buu and buu keeps blasting Gogeta. Over at Kooler the 3 earthlings are being slightly beaten. Yamcha and Tien go over to Kooler and get beaten badly. Seeing his friends getting beaten Kuririn fires a large kienzan and it chops Kooler in half. Gogeta also seeing the beating starts beating on buu then it charges a huge blast so does Gogeta they both fire and the beams collide. After about 30 seconds buu lets go and gets blasted dead. Over at Cell, Gotenks finally pounds Cell to the ground and kills him. The 30 minutes expire and everyone unfuses. The announcer then says that due to this event no one gets a reward. Seeing his creations die the weird guy runs but Vegeta then blasts a big bang attack that goes straight through his back. The Z warriors then go back home to see whats on the news.

Techniques & Info
|
*Bukujutsu: Not exactly a fighting technique, this is the ability to fly with one's ki. Since almost all of the fights in the second series occurred at least partially in the air, this technique is used all the time during fights, as well as being used to go from place to place. The only characters in the first series that could use it since their first
appearances were Tenshinhan, Chaozu, and Piccolo. (and maybe Pooalu?) Almost every one of the other characters learn to fly eventually, and by the time DBZ comes around, every major character could.
*Fusion: This technique is used to fuse two people into a single person, and give the fused person a huge power boost. Anyone can do the Fusion, but you have the same power as whoever you fuse with, and you must learn the correct pose and form. It's easy to make a mistake and fuse into something far weaker though. The Fusion lasts for 30 minutes before the fused person becomes two again. 15-dai-mae Kaioshin has a special set of Potara (earrings) which allow people to fuse without the pose, and that lasts forever. Son Goku and Piccolo know how to do it without the Potara but never actually did the move.
*Genkidama: One of Goku's most powerful techniques, the Genkidama is a large ball of energy gathered from nature, humans, etc., which lend him their energy. However, it takes time to gather a Genkidama, and has to stick his arms up in the air, during which time Goku is open to attack.
*Hasshuken: Inspired by Tenshinhan's Shiyoken, and Chapa-oo's move of the same name, Goku moves his arms fast enough so there are like eight, and he attacks with all eight at once.Invisible"
*Jumping: First used against Kulilin in the second Tenkaichi-Budokai, Goku uses this attack to become "invisible." He jumps back and forth so fast that you cannot see him, then he stops jumping for a surprise attack. Jan-Ken Punch: There hiss three different types of Jan-Ken Punches.
